Thanks for clarifying. I mentioned teachers because they have the ability to send their kids to the school system they work in. Since home prices in the Starr's Mill area usually price teacher out of the market, a lot of teachers at Starr's Mill live in adjacent Senoia/ Coweta County & send their kids to Fayette County schools.

Also besides the zoned schools Aries mentioned, a lot of people in Senoia send their kids to The Coweta Charter Academy in Senoia or the new charter school Liberty Tech in Brooks.

If you're working at the airport, Fayette (!!!) or Coweta counties is where you want to be. The schools in Fayette are considerably better than those in Coweta, if that's a concern.

ALSO WORTH MENTIONING: it's like 5 minutes from Senoia to the Starr's Mill HS cluster south of PTC. It's a good 15-20 minutes from Senoia to East Coweta HS.

I know several people who live in Clayton, Coweta, Henry and Spalding counties who teach in Fayette just so they can enroll their kids in Fayette schools.

Looks like Newnan or Tyrone is where I will try to start until I find out what the job is all about (hours, etc.). Senoia seems great but unless I can do a different schedule I can't see the 45 minute commute working for me. Of course, I may have no other choice working in ATL.

Any good areas to rent for a little while in the $1,000-$1,400 per month range?

If you are in the market to rent a house (and then possibly buy the house later), look in areas like Peachtree City, Newnan and Fayetteville where there are currently some quality detached single-family rental homes on the market.

If you are only in the market for an apartment at this point in time, look in the same areas.

They all send their kids to Starr's Mill, so they get the best of both worlds, great schools, but more affordable housing in Senoia/ Coweta.

Where are you commuting to? Most people people in Senoia commute through Peachtree City via HWY 74 to I-85. It takes about 30-40 minutes from downtown Senoia to get to I-85 around that time of day, and then another 10-15 minutes to the airport. Downtown is another 10-20 minutes away. So you're looking at a 50-75 minute commute to downtown.

You're best commute from this sound of town would be from Tyrone, or the northside of Sharpsburg or Newnan near Northgate High school. The commute to downtown from those areas would be about 20-30 minutes quicker than from Senoia.
The commutes from down there are absurd. TBH, unless you work for Delta or at the airport I don't understand why anyone would live in the south towns who works downtown anymore. There was a time when it was way cheaper to live there than Marietta Dunwoody or Alpharetta but that is starting to become less and less of a noticeable gap. The traffic from those north areas to downtown in the morning is very minimal and although it's worsened from what it once was it will never reach the levels it is from the south. You may as well fork down 350 instead of 250 for a house in Marietta or Dunwoody vs Newnan and make your life a whole lot easier every day

😂 You funny. If you really think Alpharetta provides a better commute than the southside communities than I say think what you like. From my house in South Fulton I can be downtown in 30 minutes rush hour, 15 minutes any other time.

I'd look for rentals in the Crabapple Elementary area of Tyrone, or the Brooks, Canongate, or Arbor Springs elementary attendance areas of Newnan/Sharpsburg. I'd also see what you can find in Peachtree City, but it might be tough at that price point. I think there are some apartments in PTC that may be in that range, but they won't be the nicer ones, and they will be probably be 1-2 bedrooms.

Alpharetta was pushing it but I don't think from places like southern Marietta, East Cobb, Dunwoody, or Vinings that the commute to downtown rivals that from Peachtree City or Newnan. Traffic from the northside to downtown also tends to start later and is more dependent on various factors. I find usually at 730 things are generally still good where as they are already horrendous by 730 from the airport to I-20. Whether there is a major convention at the center downtown is also a huge factor. On weeks when no event is occurring there traffic is drastically lighter southbound. I've never been sure why this happens since most of those attendees should be out of towners.
