Possibly relocating for a job in Austell (Mableton, Vinings: affordable apartments, for rent)

Hey guys,

I am looking for some information on the Austel area. I may possibly be taking a job in Austell (right next to Six Flags). This isn't set in stone, as I'm still in the interview process, but I need some info ahead of time so that when it comes time to say yes or no, I can make a more educated guess.

I will be renting. Are there any safe apartments in or around Austell? I don't mind if the apartments aren't new or look like they came straight off of HGTV or anything like that. I just don't want to have to constantly worry about my apartment being broken into, car being vandalized, or getting shot on my way in. I am looking to pay between $600-$750 for rent. Am I just dreaming, or will I end up in a not-so-nice area with a budget like that?

Any advice or tips you guys can give on finding an apartment there? I don't want a long commute to work, so the closer to Austell the better.

There are lots of apartments in that area, especially the Thornton Rd. area. It's not the best side of town but you should be alright, just don't get too lax with your surroundings (that applies any where basically).

If you can, I'd shoot more towards the center of Austell and points North or look at Mableton along Oakdale Rd and Cumberland Parkway in Vinings for apartments. You're going to have to spring for at least $750k for a 1br in a really nice area in Cobb County. There's also some affordable apartments in the center of Mableton like one off Cooper Lake.
