Don't give up Georgia Democrats! The vote for the republican just indicates Georgias' sixth district is very red. It is very hard
(If not impossible) for a Democrat to win a Republican district, especially in the South. It seems to me we Democrats need to
congratulate Mr. Osoff for introducing a progressive candidate to Georgia. Republicans should be concerned the times are
changing.

No, the Dems didn't want to compromise on a single aspect of the legislation. Repubs. would've been stupid to vote for legislation their constituents didn't support. Dems. made no effort to include republicans and instead forced it though.

Deep down do you really think the Republicans are going to allow a Trump like candidate to run again? The guy has been in office 5 months and his own constituents are sick of him already. You think Paul Ryan and the base will allow this to happen again? It was a fluke.
Georgia's gaining population which makes it more blue, it's gaining more minorities per the population which makes it more blue, and younger, more generally open-minded generations are gradually replacing the dying off older generations, which makes it more blue.

None of that is a fluke.

Also, the other thing that's inching leftward is the entire country and everything in it. In a couple decades, all the Republicans will be pro-LGBT marriage, rights, all of it. And pretty soon everybody will be pro-marijuana.

Certain issues are holding the line, but few things are really moving to the right in this country.

So even if Georgia remains a relatively conservative state, in a sense it will also be more liberal than ever.

The final version of the ACA was a complete abortion from the original. It went through months of debate and discussion. And, it was based on a Republican policy!! Christ on a cracker.

There were multiple Democratic candidates going into the jungle primary. The base saw him pulling ahead in the polls early on and quickly rallied behind him.

Anyway, congratulations to the most expensive congressperson in history. Maybe next year we won't have to be bombarded with nonstop ads for months on end. Oh, who am I kidding, that's going to happen.

Then there is the rampant bible based evangelicals so anathema to Catholics and mainline Protestants that dominate in the north.

As a friend from Satsuma AL told me something her MIssissippi mother told her. "I would rather vote for a dog than a democrat." And it so bizarre to see these whacked out optimistic posts by progressives down there predicting change. GA was gonna turn blue in 2004 lol and it never happened. Sam Nunns daughter couldn't even win, and you threw out of office a disabled Vietnam vet. GA Turing blue my a....
You need to get out more man

You just described a purple state. But to think that the only people moving here are minority's and they only vote Democratic is assuming a lot. LGBTQ Rights is a done deal it is here to stay no matter what state it is. You don't have to be open minded to be a Democrat. You are assuming a lot of things that in reality are dubious at best. Georgia certainly is trending to be a purple state but to say "minority's" are going to make it Blue is irresponsible.

You also realize that Marco Rubio is a minority who speaks fluent Spanish? Same for Ted Cruz. It isn't as simple as you are trying to make it.

Which was clearly observed in the November election, and in today's. Georgia is trending purple. Some of that is temporary acceleration of that due to Trump, but some of it is just plain Georgia's trending purple.

Trending purple, of course does not mean that it suddenly is purple. Still a couple decades off from a true battleground state that's consistently in play for both parties, like the Florida and Ohio of today.
