Default Teachers in Clayton Co.

I would like to get some information from elementary school teachers who have worked (or currently work) in Clayton Co. As I've posted before, I have gotten reports that Clayton Co. is an undesirable place to live/work. I am curious to know what your experience has been working there. How are the children? How is your support from the principals and parents? How are the school buildings?

I have noticed that apart from Atlanta's Public Schools that Clayton is one of the higher paying counties. I definitely didn't enter into teaching for the money, but I do have a daughter that I need to support and I need to be making a decent wage. With that said also, I don't want to move into an unsafe area to make a few extra bucks.

Thank you! I appreciate any help given.

I would think there would be significant 'morale' problems in this community for the next few years until the accreditation issues are resolved.

Yeah, you may wish to read up on the problems with Clayton schools lately...

There's plenty of other stories about it online if you search around.

As far as Clayton County in general goes, you'll see mixed opinions on the board. Some feel it's a pool of crud, others say it's not bad, some are in-between. There has been a growing crime problem in some areas of Clayton for the last few years.

Wow! Thanks a lot for sending all of those articles. I guess it is best to just stay away. It is a shame though what's happening to the county and I hope that they'll be able to pull it together very soon.

Gwinnett county is the largest school system in the state, IIRC.

Competitive salaries. They just had an employment fair and received 2500 applicants for 1500 positions.

Now is the time to get your application in to each and every school system.
