There's a lot of power in the associations people make with names. Hiram is an old-timey name you rarely come across anymore and might as well be Cletis, so of course people are going to think that's country. Likewise, Dallas is associated with Texas, the vast majority of which is boondocks.

It doesn't make much sense, but to a lot of people Dallas = The Ewings.

Dallas, GA > Dallas, TX in my eyes. Something about the character, the feeling of GA is better.
