So I have finally decided on an apartment off of Barrett Lakes Blvd. I know I have seen the warnings about Barrett Parkway but I just really loved this area and the apartment. Now heres the part where some of you are going to laugh. I will need to commute to downtown to either the CNN Center or the Turner Broadcasting Building. It seems like I should avoid 75. Some people said to take US 41 into town. I also thought of just drving to the North Springs or Sandy Springs Marta Station and ride the train the rest of the way. I am definitely open to backroads and already bought a map
. So what seems the most sensible? |

Depends on what your hours are. I drive from Canton to downtown on 75 every day, and I don't have any problem. If you can go into work around 7 and leave by 4, you can just take 75 and avoid the traffic. And don't think that no one else has figured out that maybe 41 is the better ride- it's just as congested as 75.

I live in Kennesaw and I agree with BobKovacs. If you can got in early and leave early you should not have any issues.
Any time I have taken 41 to avoid 75 traffic I have regretted it. |

Check out xpressga.com. There are a couple of routes from Kennesaw to downtown, and if it works out for the hours you work, this would be WELL WORTH IT in terms of price and also the mere elimination of hassle on I-75/Connector.
Route 480 has limited (later) service back and forth from Busbee. Route 481 is the main one from Town Center to Midtown (you can transfer for free to the rail to get down to the CNN center if needed or just stop at the Midtown station and walk over to Turner). But todd_307 the real question - why would you move 20+ miles away from your job? Did you not heed the advice of those of us on this board and get an apartment closer in to where your job is located? ![]() |

Well I haven't got the job yet so the hours I won't know yet. It is just a training program since I recently graduated from college and it will be an entry level job. Affordability is really the reason for living farther out. I can only afford so much and in 6 months will have to start paying back 60,000 in student loans. lol trust me I would love to live in midtown or buckhead. Hopefully I will move up fast there and soon be able to afford living right in the city. Thanks for all your great help. When I find out the hours I will definitely put that in.

Have you considered a roommate? Splitting the rent and utilites and such would be ideal. You just have to find someone compatable.......I don't know if there is a service here that can help you out.

Take 75 and only get off of it unless it crawls to a stop. 41 and/or Power's Ferry can get bad as well (in fact, Cobb Parkway sometimes crawls to a stop) and people cut through Marietta down Atlanta Rd and S. Cobb Drive as well, so there really isn't a way to avoid traffic. If there were, people would fill it up in a very short time. As long as you are moving a little, just stay on the highway

Thanks soo much! Yeah I think I am just going to stick to 75 and it looks like my hours won't be traditional 9 to 5 so I should be good. Unfortunately I already have a roommate lol my spouse, but they are still going to school and can only work part time. The job is entry level training job with CNN that only lasts a year. So hopefully after that I can be promoted and move right on in to town where I would love to be

75 will be your best bet. Ugh. Move closer in to town. We just don't need the additional traffic.

You can afford places closer right now, like Mableton and Austell. Why wait?
By the way, regarding the N. Springs... Once you get to 285 you might as well just stay on 75. There's no low-traffic way to cut through East Cobb to get to the N. Springs station. |
