This deal only confirms how terrible a deal Cobb got. Granted no money should be going to for-profit sports teams, but $200M from rental car fees for a $1B+ private development is far better than $400M mostly property tax dollars for a $450M private development.

I'm not thrilled about the Hawks handout either. But it is a great deal compared to what Cobb got. Still the best deal is Turner Field. Zero tax dollars (in fact the city got paid for the land) for a private development larger than the Battery. Braves got to be kicking themselves for leaving the area.

The Braves are still in the area. I'm ITP and I can walk to the stadium.

Let's stay on topic. This thread is about the Hawks and the Gulch.

Cobb deal is done, please move on. As a Cobb County resident (and Cumberland resident) I am over it and fine with the deal Cobb got, maybe it's time for you to get over it too. The private development slated for Turner Field is awesome, and I am a big fan of that area growing. At the end of the day, these sports will continue to get tax money from the cities/states where they reside, period.

Their attendance numbers don't look so promising. They are still getting beat by Turner Field attendance averages.

Tell that to your boy whodean. I still find plenty of entertainment in watching this slow monition train wreck unfold in Cobb, and am sure I will for years to come.

To echo others. Leave room for the MMPT. Even if it's stalled, as so many of our state's non-road transportation plans seem to be, it is still something that we need.
