This is all hypothetical. He was saying these are properties he "would" consider if he were looking in the $100k range.

You should get this one. You will be downtown. Near MARTA. You don't really need a car plus your property value might go up once all that redevelopment begins in Downtown

Not true. Give me SW below I-20 all day. As someone from NW and who actually knows the streets that's literally a no brainer. The worst areas in the city by far are in NW. Delmar Lane, Simpson Rd (Boone), Bluff, parts of Bankhead and Hollywood. That south/north of I 20 crap is misinformed at best, and at worst you'll have someone not familiar with the city at all in a messed up area from listening to that mess. NW has the best of Buckhead old money on one side and it also has some of the worst drug areas in the country on the other side. Somewhere like Cascade or even Oakland City would be vacation compared to the area my mom used to live in off Chappell Rd in NW for example

I agree with you. I should have clarified. North of I20 and East of I75. There are some minor exceptions, like Grant Park and the neighborhoods far northwest around buckhead and Atlantic station, but it's a good rule of thumb.

If you are limiting yourself to places north of I-20 I feel sorry for you. Some of the best parts of the city are on the south side.

So basically you don't feel you could find anything you would want to live in in Atlanta for less than $200K?

Noooo....not as a 20% down payment. As the total cost of the entire home (house, condo, townhome, duplex, whatever). Everyone can't afford a half a million dollar home (not even everyone that's living in them).
