Good Afternoon!

My family of 4 are waiting to hear if we will be relocating to Atlanta for wife's job in September/October 2017. We would appreciate some advice on walkable neighborhoods east and north of downtown, daycare options. The kids are 18 months (January 2016 Birthday) and 3 (September Birthday so miss school cut-off).

I really need 1) Walkable Neighborhood Recommendations, 2) Daycare & Preschool Options bonus if Montessori

Below is some details:

1. Rent/Buy: Rent for 1-2 years then buy

2. Rental Budget: No more than $1900

3. Size: 2 bedroom 1 bathroom at minimum if feasible 3/2, but location is higher priority than size

4. House Type: House/Duplex/Condo (high or low rise)/Condo style Apartment (High or low rise)

5. Employment: Wife (Downtown near Woodruff Park)/Hubby (Restaurant Industry)

6. Schools: Public Schools

7. Suburban vs. Urban: Urban - We visited and like Old Fourth Ward, Little 5 Points, Inman Park (Prefer mix of residential and retail/commercial within close proximity)

8. Transit: Access to bus and/or MARTA

Thank you!

For pre-K4 I plan to put in free pre-k in fall 2018. I am unsure of logistics at this point, but logically, I would like to start kids in place where oldest .will attend pre-k4 next year unless there is a great public school option within close proximity to housing

Free pre-K sounds great. If you are referring to Georgia's Pre-K program it has limited availability and spots are often allocated by lottery - so make a backup plan too.

Know that the quality of Ga free pre-K programs ofen vary widely just based on how involved the parents are and how advanced the kids are in the group. Some are great some not so great, depending on what you are looking for.

We discussed Montessori in depth a few years ago. I started a number of threads. Do a search and you will find quite a bit of info.

You'll have a hard time finding even a 2BR/1BA for less than 2,000$ in those neighborhoods. You should focus on apartments/condos in that area.
