Cool -douglasville 101-

Currently out of state looking forward to relocate to Douglas County have looked around surrounding Atlanta metro area and found myself wanting start fresh here...What can you tell me about

1. Nicer areas in location and it really doesn't matter how old homes but would prefer area where mostly settled seniors preferably (quiet neighborhoods)
2. Neighborhoods to avoid
3. Is there a high crime rate and if so what is the most committed crimes?
4. Is there a certain area with the best school district
5. On average what is the minimum commute time to say Downtown ATL or Cobb County
6. Where are all the jobs or are they mostly Downtown ATL , and surrounding counties

Thanks in advance who reply back or simply take the time out to view

I like the following areas (in no particular order)
-the homes within walking distance of Downtown Douglasville (off of Campbellton Road)
-the homes near Rose Avenue
-the homes near Chapel Hill Golf Course
-some parts of the Arbor Station subdivision

2. Neighborhoods to avoid
I'm not overly fond of the North Douglasville area (Hwy 92 north of the tracks), especially around Chicago Park. I think the schools up there are the worst in the county. If the schools were nicer I'd recommend it. There is, however, one way to get around the school issue: enroll your kids in the only charter school in the county: Brighten Academy-http://brightenacademy.com/

3. Is there a high crime rate and if so what is the most committed crimes?
In my opinion Douglas County doesn't have high crime per se, in comparison to some of the other cities in the metro area. I think the main thing we have to concern ourselves with are break-ins, I guess. I think it's really tame out here.

4. Is there a certain area with the best school district
I teach in Cobb County and I'm not overly impressed anymore with Douglas County Schools...but if I **had** to choose a feeder pattern...I'd say the Chapel Hill ES/MS/HS feeder pattern is pretty okay. I'd choose the charter school over this feeder pattern, though. The charter school is doing quite well. My neighbors whose kids attend the school have nothing but good things to say about it.

5. On average what is the minimum commute time to say Downtown ATL or Cobb County
My commute to West Cobb is 20-25 minutes (at about 8:15-8:30 am). On the other hand, my fiance's commute to Marietta (Central Cobb) is between 45 minutes-1 hour. Your mileage may vary.

6. Where are all the jobs or are they mostly Downtown ATL , and surrounding counties
Most of the jobs are in the actual Atlanta city limits and surrounding counties, however there are a few major companies with offices in this county. The Red Cross has a blood processing center out here and last I heard, Google had an office out here somewhere. There are also smaller companies out here, so it really shouldn't be difficult to find employment. I think if you really wanted to work in Douglasville/Douglas County, finding a job out here isn't difficult if you're qualified, provided you aren't looking for something highly specialized.

Smile Douglasville .. try Dallas very near Douglasville

Douglasville is more of a city than a town. If you are interested in a little less stress and safety, yet access to "everything" you may want to consider Dallas. It has HWYs 278, 120 and 61 that will get you anywhere you need on the west of Atlanta quickly ... including Douglasville. That's what I did. Houses are cheaper, schools are better, and the area is safer. My friend has a house there for sale that you may love .... check this out as an example of what's available:
