Ok I'm assuming most of the areas in fayette are nice. We just trying to look at rentals online now.
Thanks so much.

WF4sure, the best schools in Fayette County are the McIntosh (30269), Starr's Mill (30269 & 30215), and Whitewater (30215) districts, but honestly all the schools in Fayette are good. I would also consider Northern Coweta County, especially the Northgate district in Newnan and Sharpsburg (30265, 30277). The Northgate area is adjacent to I-85, and about 25 minutes south of the airport/ Camp Creek Area. Since you will be working in Camp Creek and Downtown, it's probably better to do a southside commute. You don't want to have Atlanta between you and work, and as primaltech mentioned, the I-85S commute is "probably the least bad traffic of any freeway in the city".

Here are the commutes from PTC and Northgate High to Camp Creek.

Here is a link about the schools in Fayette:

There is also a GRTA bus route in Newnan, if you go that route, and rental prices are much more reasonable in Coweta vs. PTC.

Like the other posters have mentioned, neither one of those locations is officially in Downtown Atlanta itself.

Though you already seem to be aware that Camp Creek Parkway is in Southwest Atlanta west of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (roughly about 10 miles south/southwest of Downtown Atlanta), McDonough Boulevard (while closer to Downtown Atlanta) is located in Southeast Atlanta roughly about 4 miles south/southeast of Downtown Atlanta.

Neither of those areas would really be the most suitable for commuting to and from by transit, particularly by rail transit since both of those areas are miles away from the nearest MARTA heavy rail station.

Like other posters have stated, since your probable work locations are on the south side of the city you should focus your search for housing on the south side of the Atlanta metro area....And like other posters have also stated, if you end up working mostly at your employer's Camp Creek Parkway location you should focus your search for rental housing in very high-quality south metro suburban communities with relatively short commutes like Fayette and Coweta counties.

If you end up working at your employer's Camp Creek Parkway location, START and FOCUS your search for rental housing in Fayette County where the public school system is of the highest possible quality.

If you happen to not be able to find anything that you like in Fayette County (likely because of a housing market that is being made highly competitive because of a booming/exploding television and film production scene there in Fayette County and across much of the Southside), look in neighboring Coweta County in the district anchored by Northgate High School (like PTC Dad recommended) and in the districts anchored by East Coweta and Newnan high schools, if necessary.

If you end up working mostly and/or mainly at your employer's McDonough Boulevard location in Southeast Atlanta, Henry County potentially becomes an option in the highly-regarded Union Grove and Ola school districts of the Henry County school system....Though, even if you end up working mostly and/or mainly at your employer's McDonough Blvd/Southeast Atlanta location, Fayette and Coweta counties most likely should continue to be your first option in which to look for rental housing because of the relatively less-painful commuting patterns on I-85 southwest of the city.

If even after looking for housing in very high-quality Southside areas like Fayette and Coweta (and even the Union Grove and Ola areas of Henry County if commuting to McDonough Blvd/SE Atlanta) you still feel the need to look in a farther-flung Northside area like Kennesaw, commuting between a farther-flung Northside area like Kennesaw and Camp Creek Parkway will potentially become more viable next year when the new reversible toll lanes open up on Interstates 75 and 575 northwest of Atlanta....Though keep in mind that the tolls on the soon-to-open I-75/I-575 NW toll lanes (which will flow southbound towards I-285 in the morning and flow northbound away from I-285 in the afternoon/evening) are likely to be expensive and eventually even exorbitant during morning and afternoon/evening rush hours.

Tucker probably would not be the most recommended option to look at because of the challenge of getting around on the limited-capacity surface street network between Tucker and Southwest Atlanta and/or between Tucker and Southeast Atlanta.

Buford as an option probably should be almost completely out of the question, 1) because of the delay-prone nature of the commute between a far-flung Northeast metro community like Buford and an area like Southwest Atlanta by way of a busy commuter route like I-85 through Gwinnett County and Northeast metro Atlanta and, 2) because of the distance of the commute between South Atlanta and Buford/North Gwinnett County.
