We're moving to Marietta at the end of September from Canada and have decided on the East Cobb area based on school reviews/ratings. Most of the reviews are based on academics but I was wondering if any particular public middle school offers good athletic programs?

I have honed in on Tritt for my elementary aged kids and Hightower for my 11 year old, do these schools have decent athletic programs? As we are from Canada we have researched the ice hockey programs which made us choose Marietta to settle in, are there any particular schools or areas that we should be looking at where there is a higher concentration of kids that also play hockey?

As for neighbourhoods in East Cobb any suggestions which ones in the Tritt/Hightower school zones have a high demographic of families with younger kids?

Pre-high school level, most sports are not through the schools. Here are a couple of links that might help:

My sister is a teacher at Tritt. It is an excellent school with lots of community support.

Thanks for the links JOinGA we'll check them out. I'm glad to hear Tritt is a good school sometimes the ratings can be deceiving!
