Hey, I just registered and I will be attending Emory Law this fall as well. I really like the highlands area, and I have a few apartments that I have in mind. If anyone has any personal experience, or knew someone that lived there, or even have just heard things about each one, I would really appreciate the assistance. Also, any suggestions to other apts would be appreciated. Ive been looking at 2 bedrooms, and I would like to keep it under 1,600, but preferably lower.

Highland Square - Modestly priced, looks nice, huge square footage for 2brs, close enough to walk to school, pretty close to VaHi. Haven't taken a actual visit, but it looks like it has a lot of attractive features for my situation

Highland View - not as close to school, but much closer to highlands. More expensive and not as many square feet.

North Highland Steel - trendy looking, but a little more far away from both highlands and Emory. More expensive and less sq. footage. Closer to midtown though.

Gables Rock Springs - pretty close to highlands, so so for Emory. Rent in the newer buildings starts at like 1600, and the older buildings I believe are overpriced for what they are. APT manager seems like she is willing to work on prices a bit though.

Highland Walk Apt. Homes and Virginia Highlands Apartment homes - don't know much about them, but they look nice. I think it was Highland walk that had the more reasonable rent for the square footage they give.

Like I said before, I love the Highland's area, but I don't want to stray too far from the Emory campus. I am hoping to take a visit to Highland square soon, and I pray that there is not some major defect there that cannot be found through the internet. Thank you for all of your help and I appreciate your time!

I think you're referring to the Gables Montclair; very nice and an easy walk to many amenities.

I'm living in Highland Square right now and have been here for the past 9 months. It's definitely really convenient to Emory -- if you walk across the street to the end of Harvard Road, make a right on Emroy Road, it's probably less .75 mile. We're moving out in May because I bought a place, but I haven't minded living here. There are probably quite a bit of vacancies because they increased the referral rate from $300 to $400 recently (if you refer someone and they sign a 12-month lease, you get a referral bonus). The front office staff (espeically Maurice) is nice and competent. Once, my garbage disposal seized, and they came by to fix it. I haven't had to call them much, but I think they're generally responsive to repair requests.

Unsolicitied advice: try to avoid the first-floor apartments with the HVAC units in front of them. When you have the windows open, those things are LOUD (and quite annoying).

sorry -- if you're going to the law school, you'd probably just go up north decatur. not a bad walk at all.

Default Thank you for the advice

I visited Highland square today, and it looks like a really great place. Good square footage and nice amenities for a decent price. Hopefully me and my roomate will get everything squared away at a discount.

I don't really believe the stuff on there. Just using a general sense, the people that do not like the place are MUCH more prone to taking the time and posting something online. The satisfied ones are not that likely to do so because they are satisfied. Most of the apartments around Emory have terrible reviews from that place, and all the ones with titles like "this place sucks" and bodies of "don't go here, its terrible" that don't explain why make me wonder about the credibility of the posters. Im liking the square from what I have seen today, and I would really be sold on it if they would drop the price a bit!

Thank you for all of your help guys and gals!
