I was thinking the same thing, except the tornadoes come quick and they are over, the hurricanes last forever starting with the media

I have to be honest -- last night when I realized what had happened, I just chuckled, thinking of all the posters who post here thinking of moving to the ATL area but who are worried about tornadoes. This one will for sure be all over the news today -- 1. because it is rare for tornadoes to hit downtowns and 2. because the SEC tournament had to be moved and no one but family, cheerleaders, band and the media will be allowed inside.

I'm going to be tired tomorrow...

I was up at 5 with the dog...I was thinking about you and all that live ITP. Hope everybody is well, and just without power.

I was thinking about everyone to. We have a weather radio, that use to be programmed to only go off if the threat was imminent and near us, but I think it got deprogrammed and it started going off around 4 am and 100 miles away. I couldn't get my husband to turn it off. Silly man. I kept saying "it isn't even raining here yet."
UGH. all morning it went off.

Thanks for the kind thoughts!
We didn't even lose power last night, though. Another storm rolled in around 6:15 but it was pretty mild.
From the weather news it's possible the storms could get worse later today. There's a low pressure system passing in and temperatures in the 70s - could cause some more convection. But, perhaps the low passed already.
It's not just ITP I worry about! I hope no one gets any more tornados!

Wild night - reminded me of some Florida storms.
Good thing the kid from Alabama hit that three... and good thing UF lost last night.

I should have posted early this AM...since others were up! LOL
My alarm clock this AM were Douglasville's tornado sirens...they went off again at about 5:40 this am....stopped...and then again around 6:20ish I think.

After my camera battery charges I am going to go out and assess the damage in my neighborhood. If there's anything worth looking at I'll come post it.
Not going downtown, of course...
But I can believe it if that twister came down Dekalb Ave! I am going to check that out...

Does anyone know how CARE's office is? It's at 151 Ellis Street. Thanks for any responses!

I live in Inman Park and the power went out at around 9:30 p.m.. The lights flickered on and off and finally just stayed off. I could hear emergency response vehicles zipping through the neighborhood and then a few hours later the heavens just opened and I thought that I might float away with the house. I also heard a helicopter fly by the house too.
The power finally came back on this morning at around 9:00 a.m. I had no idea of the extent of the damage until everyone from out of town started calling and asking if I was okay.
Just across the viaduct in Cabbagetown, The Stacks, the old Fulton Seed and Feed, 4 stories of a building that they were renovating/converting into condos collapsed. Luckily no one was injured living in that building.
As I am posting - we are having an incredible hail storm!
Be safe everyone!
