They not only take away that lane of travel, but the effect multiplies. You have people cutting over, slowing down, having fender benders, etc. Buses are also slowed down.

And this happens every time and every day that such a stop is made.
I missed that.

Why do cities allow that in the first place?

Atlanta allows it. Many other cities don't.

Houston tried that. We saw how well that worked out for them.

Can we just start by scrapping all the parking minimums first?

Is this ledgislation even going to get rid of the minimums in Buckhead or just now define a required "range" of number of parking spaces?

No, Houston has much more onerous parking minimums than we do. 4 to 10 spaces per 1000 sq ft of business. (Which means 1,200 to 3,000 sq ft of parking per 1,000 sq ft of business).

If Buckhead had decent transit to the places where most people will be coming from, I could get behind this, but until then, NO!

That's less Buckhead's fault and more the northern suburbs refusing MARTA expansion because they hated black people.

Or we could just continue to cram more and more cars into the area since that works pretty well now.

It is not Buckhead or the City of Atlanta's responsibility of fault that other core counties rejected MARTA. Instead the city should focus on making QoL better for it's residents and businesses.

Amazon and others, too.

Yet another reason for the business community to contribute to transit funding.
