Just like anything with 2 wheels, once you get going the stay upright. I have not seen a price for the E-Cargo, but standard E-bikes are less than $2K

I sure hope Midtown is listening.

Will we ever see bike lanes on Peachtree in Midtown? Or will cyclists be shunted over to side streets where they have ride several extra blocks to access the amenities on Peachtree?

I am sure Midtown retails and business owners would be interested in knowing that data shows increase in sales when protected bike lanes added.

The prices of e-bikes are dropping like crazy. There is currently one at Costco for $1000.

Btw, most e-bikes max out at 20 mph, and at that speed they can move with traffic in more congested urban areas.

Good article on how Toronto's protected bike lanes are bringing out hordes of new riders.

Wouldn't it be great to see something like this on Peachtree in Midtown and downtown?

Quote:
A report by the city of Toronto to evaluate the performance of cycle tracks on Richmond Street and Adelaide Street, as well as north-south cycle tracks on Simcoe Street and Peter Street, recommends converting the temporary installations to permanent infrastructure facilities.

The report "tells a commuting story of roaring success that was accomplished with little fanfare and even less cost," according to an article by Edward Keenan. According to the report, 730 people biked on Richmond and Adelaide streets before the temporary cycle tracks were installed in 2014. In 2018, that number had increased to 7,509 people biking on the streets every day.

Downtown has Peachtree Center Ave, Portman Blvd, PATH Pkwy and a new connecting Portman to Luckie via Centennial Olympic Park.
Midtown has 10th St and a pilot project by Tech adding planter boxes to 5th St at Spring St.
But Atlanta still needs more!

But what about Peachtree? Are we going to force cyclists to take some secondary route and then cut over a block or two, simply to access the amenities on our main drag?

I find Peachtree thru Midtown to be no issue, Downtown it has Streetcar tracks.

cq, I admire your bravery and expertise on the bicycle, but you are clearly in either the "Fearless" or "Enthused and Confident" category of riders.

That's only a very small portion (7%) of the people who are interested in cycling. To get to the big numbers you're looking at in Toronto, it's necessary to reach out to the masses of people who do not feel comfortable sharing the road with automobiles and will only ride if there's protected bike infrastructure.
