Actual pic of tornado that hit downtown Atlanta...
Update on the tornado thread...
11alive (local news station) just posted this pic that someone actually took as the tornado was touching down in the Centennial Park/CNN area of downtown Friday night. Wow - talk about one of those once in a lifetime (or two) types of photos and being in the right place at the right time! Unfortunately the event wasn't anything to be thrilled about, but at least someone was able to document what happened visually.
Credits to the station and photog are printed on the photo (linked to it from their site):
Story that goes with it: 11Alive.com - Photographers Capture Atlanta Tornado

Officially rated as a "F2" tornado.
They have also created a Google Map that shows the actual path drawn out that the tornado took that night. By following THIS link, you hopefully can see it. There will be zoom controls on the left so you can zoom out to see more areas at once.

Exactly.
The thing is, I wonder if maybe TWO tornadoes hit downtown. On the 11alive web site, they confirm that it's the grey center area that is the tornado, but if you look to the left of it, it sure looks like a darker grey area is extending down from the clouds to the ground, too. Two funnels, maybe?

That is really incredible! Thanks for sharing. It was a great tool to send to family and friends that live outside Atlanta to illustrate the tornado's path.
