City named after a mall wants to de-annex a portion and name it after an online retail giant.

Blame the state, not the county.

Stonecrest area won't meet Amazon's stated criteria until they get heavy rail, which is a long way away, if ever.

So, no. If Amazon went with Atlanta, I can't see it being anywhere more than a mile or so outside 285.

Now one area that does have MARTA rail already in place, and has lots of room for TOD towers, would be Indian Creek station.

giant corporate headquarters is a giant corporate headquarters. since when did "economic development" become "inviting in corporations" instead of "empowering existing residents' ability to start and maintain businesses"? i'm over this crap of fighting for every giant corporate HQ that's just going to hire people from other places anyway. we need better laws for small businesses... start at the bottom and get rid of the ridiculous restrictions on street vending.

If Amazon really brings in high paying executive level jobs....where are these people supposed to live if they work in Stonecrest?

Do you really think they're not going to be smart enough to learn about Dekalb county schools?

It gets the name of the new city out there, and maybe it gets some other business to consider the area. Nothing wrong with free publicity.
