Umi is rated highest from what I know.

If you go, preorder the dessert ahead it's a ball you crack with a hammer.

Just FYI....

I enjoyed sushi for years. Then last year I finally got food poisoning from it. Not regular food poisoning that passes in 24 hours...the kind that lasted days until I went to the doctor and got Flagyl to kill whatever bacteria or parasite was causing the problem.

I also read a study around the same time. Hundreds of gastroenterologists were surveyed and 50% of them said they just never eat sushi at all because the risk just isn't worth it. Of the GI docs that do eat sushi, they all said they are aware of the risks and only eat at places that have very well trained chefs and follow strict food handling and storage requirements.

So your question is good. I just want everyone to know that if you eat Kroger or Rusans sushi, you're playing a numbers game and it's just a matter of time....only eat sushi at extremely highly rated places where they know what they are doing.

I stopped eating it at all. I may again some day, but I'll never eat it at a less than stellar restaurant again.

These look like great recommendations. I like the idea of a "Japanese gastropub" (Brush). Added to my list of restaurants to visit.

Also, I didn't know about Sushinobo, which is near my 'hood.

This is... vague, and isn't particularly convincing? What is the statistical difference between getting sick from eating sushi from Kroger, vs. anything else they sell? If all you can offer is "it might happen!" it's pretty hard to convince most people to change their behavior.

Personally me and my family like Circle Sushi in Roswell, but recently it's become too popular and crowded so the service takes a lot longer.

Another one I like is Steel Sushi in Midtown (I think it got renamed recently).
