You can't even by liquor on sundays here because of these jesus freaks down here. Why do All the black people move here and think they are going to be the next Bill Gates why I don't know??????

This is the south lets not forget and Atlanta as well as GA is still very racist so BLACKS get no special privileges here! What blacks can accomplish here can be accomplished anywhere all it takes is hard work! I am black btw.

I find it very strange how majority of the goverment here in Atl is black also how it is home to the most black owned buisnesses and black millionaires. I wonder how these things happen if blacks dont have priveledges.

Let me be blunt:
Take the Rent or Mortgage you're paying now, with no trees and nasty street blocks and that retarded rat race to nowhere - and come down south to find a home to rent or buy in Midtown, Virginia Highlands, Morning Side or even West Buckhead or Downtown - enjoy being able to find parking where ever, go to nice stores and have a little yard and nice weather.
Enjoy being able to save money and find friendly people and go to events and yoga and the gym and walk in the park with your dog and have nice schools for your child to grow up in.
People who buy into the NYC "make my dreams come true fun life" bull just haven't had a real life to compare it to.
Truth be told, people from here notice all of the license plates and accents of people from Massachusetts and New York etc...and we hear all of the comments about how it's slow here, but we are annoyed because with all of the complaints, people from the industrial north sure to enjoy the huge increase in the quality of life down here. And the job market that hasn't ben ruined by things such as unions.

The crime in Atlanta is higher. I feel much safer walking in Midtown Manhattan than I do in Midtown Atlanta.

Also, in NYC, you do not have the costs of a car (add in insurance, upkeep and gas and that is not a small expense). Incomes are also substantially higher. I have a close relative graduating from college who will be getting a $50,000 signing bonus to move to NYC. Yes, they will be living in a small apartment instead of a 4-bedroom home, but they won't have any upkeep and will be close to Broadway Theater, world class museums, shopping, whatever. For 20-year-olds, a very "make my dreams come true fun life."

That said, I love being able to visit my daughters in Manhattan but am always happy to return to my spacious home on an acre of landscaped property here in Georgia.

As of October 2010 unemployment in Atlanta Georgia was 9.6%, this is far from the highest unemployment. The reason I am quoting October's unemployment rate is this is the most recent data on the Bureau of Labor Statistics web site.

California, Michigan and Florida have unemployment over 12% and Nevada is over 14%, These are the pending numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

You are wrong sir. The latest was November Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas.

We are past 10% now and the original poster said " one of" the highest.
