I was much happier than in the highrise.

AtlJan - what is the CHOA area? Doesn't ring a bell for me. From where I live in Smyrna/Vinings, the commute to Midtown is usually a breeze for me. Of course, in Sandy Springs, the route is different, and you could potentially have to deal with GA 400 above the top end of I-285... that must be avoided.

Me personally, I wouldn't move to Buckhead until Fall 2014 once BA is completed.

Depending on of your job is near the Marta station and you can take MARTA to work you can check out Midtown, Atlantic Station or the Virginia Highland area.

Me personally I would just move near Sandy Springs first and then once you get to know Atlanta then decide where you want to live

She might want to get in on the good pricing now. After BA, who knows how pricing will change.

Off topic, but you have made a very interesting point. I am looking at highrises now and never considered this aspect of the living experience.

To OP, where are you gonna be purchasing a place? Although Midtown fits your current goal as a walkable community, Midtown (narrowly defined) may not be an ideal place to purchase a home. Wont it be more appropriate to live close to where you want to settle down?
