Hello,
I was reading the "Southeastern Atlanta Development Mega Thread" and I thought it was great idea. I want to do something similar for Northern Atlanta suburbs. I hope to post on this as much as I can, and if anyone has any news feel free to share.

Halcyon:
This is an Avalon-esque development that will contain offices, living, retail, etc. I think this is great to relieve some of the pressure off Avalon because it is always crowded. I know some of you might not like it because it is "drive to urbanism", but it is at least something.

Define 'Northern Atlanta'. Not clear if that means the suburbs or the city.

Edit: NM, apparently you mean north OTP suburbs.

This next thing is just an opinion. As all of you probably know, that "The Hotel at Avalon" opened a few months ago. What you might not know is that it is the most expensive hotel I have found in the surrounding area. I toured the hotel and the rooms weren't even that nice.

Yes. It is a suburb expansion. This expansion is called Hedgewood. It is part of the Vickery Village subdivision with shops. Thats how I would describe it. This is also a different type of expansion because the plot sizes are smaller than normal.

Hedgewood is a builder. They built the original phase of my own neighborhood in downtown Marietta, the original homes at Serenbe and quite a few other places before they went bankrupt during the recession. Now they are back and are building again at Vickery, among other places.

"Northern Atlanta Suburbs" is a pretty broad area. The "Southeastern Atlanta Development Mega Thread" is really only referring to an ~dozen square mile area inside the city limits where there is a lot of development happening.

Here is a link to an ongoing thread titled "Atlanta's suburbs continue to become increasingly sophisticated" that also appears to cover development news for the broad area that you are interested in...
