I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I have a few friends who were not disappointed so much as a tad underwhelmed. They'd hyped to movie up a lot to themselves, and felt that it was a really good movie, but not as good as they'd expected. I, on the other hand, wasn't hyped all that much, and had a great time with it.

It was weird to see the High stand in as the Museum of London, though. Not complaining, just made me do a double take.

I've liked most recent Marvel movies besides Avengers Age of Ultron and Doctor Strange.

Among the recent films, I liked Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thor Ragnarok more than Black Panther, but the movie was still important for its historical and cultural impact. I think I couldn't get over Michael B. Jordan trying to act so hard all the time lol.

Me too. I remember saying, "that's the HIGH." This was before I knew most of the movie was filmed here. I not a movie buff, but I knew to go see this one on opening weekend, as not to be influenced by all the commentary and hype thereafter.

I read that a rock quarry somewhere in the metro was where the 'Wakanda' scenes were shot.

Great movie.

I sat down and finally watched Spiderman: Homecoming with a couple friends who'd already seen it.

I couldn't stop going "That's my high-school!", "I know that gym!", "Hey that's downtown!", and "Oh look! It's Piedmont Park!". I think I annoyed them a bit hahaha.

It was also pretty great to see Donald Glover in it. As always he nailed it, even if he was just a bit of a side character.

Spider-Man: Homecoming: Donald Glover Hints at Miles Morales | Time

He could play Miles Morales in a few years? Especially with the success of Black Panther.

Seems that a movie like Black Panther wouldn't be using a whole lot of local scenery.

Atlanta doesn’t have a specific advantage over other big cities except with cost of living and current tax breaks. The traffic probably isn’t as big of a concern because most productions move at off hours (very early morning or late at night). And while our traffic is bad in places, I don’t think it’s especially debilitating. Most of the studio spaces are on the south side, and a huge number of crew live in town (east Atanta).

As far as an advantage over small cities, you need the infrastructure and the people. Atanta is a metro of 6 million people, and we are still pulling workers from surrounding states because our local labor is tapped out. Would be hard to go to Wichita and set the industry up there. Or Macon. Or Columbus.

I rented Sharkey's Machine not too long ago just to look at 1970s era Atlanta.

That's a surprisingly good movie. And it does offer a good look at the ATL.
