Never thought that I would post on here since I'm so used to just reading others post. However, I haven't seen the answer for what I happen to be looking for. So here it goes....

We are a family of 3 with a 2 year old. We are looking to live in the downtown area within a nice apartment. Our max budget is around $2200, and of course we would not want to touch if not needed. We don't know much about the downtown area so were wondering where are the good and bad parts at? I did some research and seen that not all parts are nice so any insight from here would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

General rule, from when I lived there,
South=bad, North=good.

With a budget of $2200/month, you probably should not really have much of a problem finding a nice apartment to rent in a nice Intown area.

If you want to live in a really urban Intown neighborhood/district, look in areas like:

> Midtown...

> Atlantic Station...

> Old Fourth Ward...

> Sweet Auburn...

> Cabbagetown...

> Reynoldstown...

> Glenwood Park...

> West Midtown.

If you want to live in an Intown neighborhood district that is slightly less-urban, look in areas like:

> Virginia-Highland...

> Poncey Highland...

> Edgewood...

> Inman Park/Little Five Points...

> Piedmont Heights/Cheshire Bridge Road corridor...

> Morningside-Lenox Park...

> Lindbergh (a district around the Lindbergh MARTA Station)...

> City of Decatur...

> Greater Buckhead...

> Brookhaven.

Once again, Born 2 Roll gives great advice. There are tons of great in-town neighborhoods listed above, and in-town Atlanta doesn't look like most urban areas. It's one of the greenest urban areas in the country. There are trees everywhere. Good luck with your move.
