I've heard some people say that there is a huge disparity between rich and poor in Atlanta. Is this true? And if so, why would anyone want to live in a city like that ? If Atlanta were truly a great city there would not be such a huge disparity.

To your obviously leading questions, I would say that a statement that nebulous could be argued about any city in the world.

The reasons that many “hate” where they live often fall into 1 of 2 categories. Either they’ve seen things change and think that things that bother them have gotten worse (traffic for example is often a big one) or they think that things aren’t changing fast enough.

If you like where Atlanta is now and like where it’s headed (even if slowly) then Atlanta is for you. If you want Atlanta to change into what it was in 1980 or into the next Seattle, then it’s probably not for you. Because the reality is that it’s going to be what it’s going to be. More of the same with hopefully continual improvements.
