where do your interests lie? what crowd do you usually hang out with? there are a lot of fantastic places to visit around the metro but most of the replies you're going to get are going to be kind of generic because we don't really know what you would enjoy doing.

Good point. We obviously want to see some of the touristy stuff (museums, aquariums, historical sites, etc) but also want to get a taste for what the city is like apart from those things. Quirky neighborhoods, local hangouts, parks and restaurants are up our alley as well. We are outdoor types so if there are places to bike, hike or kayak it would be a plus.

Yeah, this is a good thought. If you want more of a neighborhood feel, where you'll see people hanging out on their front porches you'll get different recommendations than if you want to be among the high rises and big attractions. Fortunately, both options exist, and both are convenient to the things visitors generally like to do.
