I was shocked to see construction going on in the Petsmart lot behind CVS not too far from Peachtree and Piedmont in Buckhead where there used to be a Sports Authority when I tried to walk through there the other day to get to Trader Joe's.

Shocked since that eye sore of an empty space seems like it's been there for.ev.er. Then I get an email from my apartment's management office announcing it will be an Aldi which I thought was...interesting. Have never shopped there before but since it'll be like a 2 minute walk from me I'll check it out once it opens.

Aldi adding Buckhead location near Trader Joe's

I'm personally not a big fan of Aldi although I know people who are.

It has some great chocolate for a cheap price. I always go there for my chocolate kick.

All of their pasta is also Barilla brand, purchased bulk in Europe and packaged with Aldi's store brand.

It'll be nice to have some more affordable options in the area.

So Aldi will be using up all the space where the Sports Authority used to be? I notice they are starting to build bigger now.

You've never shopped at an Aldi? Well figures...they are mostly in the suburbs. You used to have to drive how far for one but it's not so bad anymore. Aldi will change your life. They're affordable and good quality. Their cashiers are so fast and they also do stocking too. They truly are amazing to watch.

That's so funny because oftentimes that is the sole reason I go to Aldi. Haha.

ALDI is great. Organic foods priced at low enough that everyone can afford it. Nothing special, keeps very low inventory in the back, no loss-leader areas like deli or bakery. We need more ALDI filling food deserts to bring affordable prices to all income levels.
They also pay their employees better than Publix and other grocery stores because they have to perform so many different jobs.

I should give Aldi a second look. When they first came here back in the early 2000s it didn't seem like they were ready for prime time, but maybe they've upped their game.

Good info, cq. Perhaps I'll give them a shot!
