The company my husband works for is transferring him to Atlanta within the next few weeks. My daughter, 12yrs old, and I will be heading south when school is out here in IL.
I have been trying to research different areas that will keep my husband within 30-40 minutes of work. The shop is located on S. Fulton Pkwy. He is on call 24/7 and is supposed to be within 30-45 minutes of the shop at all times. I am hoping to find a nice, safe community with a great school system. I thought I had found that in Douglasville (as long as we stay in the Chapel Hill or Fairplay district). However, after reading these forums, it sounds like Douglasville may not be the "perfect" place that we are looking for. Can anyone recommend a nice area? We will be looking for a house to rent, as we will only be in GA for about 2 years, in the $800-1000 a month range, 3 BD 2 BA, dogs allowed. It doesn't matter if it's a small or large town just as long as it's a good town. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!! |

I think the tougher part will be to find a house for rent with 3BR/2BA that allows pets in your price range.
Tributary is a planned community near Sweetwater Creek State Park and the commute to his area would be easy from there. I have HEARD that they do lease some of the townhomes in the community, but I'm not sure if they do that to the general public or just to those who are in the process of buying larger homes in the community. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Their web site is: - Tributary Atlanta Real Estate: Atlanta Master-Planned Community 15 miles West of Midtown Atlanta Georgia. Otherwise, the Powder Springs/Austell areas gets you within the 40 minute range and you MIGHT find a house in that price range for rent. For schools discussions, see the school thread at the very top of the Atlanta room forum. |

We are considering a move to Tributary and need to figure out if it is a good area for us. My husband would be working off of Fulton Industrial Blvd. so we know it is close but is it safe. We are coming from a very safe area in MO and not looking to move somewhere that there is a lot of crime. We are also looking at Peachtree City even though his commute would be longer. Need to know the real story about Douglasville and the surrounding areas. Our son is home schooled so the schools aren't important.

not too far from the high school gang shooting in Austell.
I reworked some of Douglas County's Software last year for their jail system. I imagine most counties are similar but scarred the you know what out of me. |
