If Atlanta gets Amazon HQ2, where should it be located?

Keep these items in mind:

A. Amazon's well-known requirements and criteria (public transportation, international airport, skilled workforce, universities, square footage, COL, etc.).

B. cwkimbro's commentary on other threads on the importance of locating the HQ near a skilled workforce--and not as a tool for Atlanta to redevelop and revitalize an area or neighborhood.

C. The importance of synergy--meaning, tech companies located near other tech companies in tech-oriented corridors; banks located near other banks/financial institutions in financial centers and neighborhoods; etc.

The choices:

1. The Spring Street Corridor of Midtown
*Anywhere between North Avenue and the Brookwood Split, including Tech Square.
*Nearby MARTA Stations: North Avenue, Midtown, and Arts Center

2. Allen-McGill
*The area stretching across North Downtown from the Pemberton Place to the former Civic Center.
*Nearby MARTA Stations: Civic Center (Allen-McGill), Peachtree Center, and North Avenue

3. Perimeter Center
*Anywhere near a MARTA station in the Perimeter Center area of Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and Brookhaven.
*Nearby MARTA Stations: Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, North Springs, and Medical Center

4. Old Turner Field/Georgia State University/Summerhill
*The Turner Field/GSU redevelopment area in Summerhill.
*Nearby MARTA Stations: Georgia State, Five Points

5. The Gulch
*The famous area of Downtown that was the former location of Atlanta's train stations.
*Nearby MARTA Stations: Five Points, Garnett (Marthasville), Omni/etc./etc. (Thrasherville), Vine City

~After casting your vote, please add commentary below explaining why you voted the way that you did.

That's it. Enjoy!

1. It would add more foot traffic to a "dead" area. Next to Ga tech. This would help jump start the building of more high-rise apartments and condos in Midtown. It would look nice on 75/85 south near The Varsity

5. I still think this area should focus on just being an entertainment district with a casino, a performing arts center (something smaller than Philips Arena) mixed in with The Battery/Atlantic Station type development with plenty of housing

It will go to the Gulch with those unnamed documents filed with the city a few weeks ago looking for 10 million sq ft of land. Who else would want this much development but them

Downtown can't even get a new high-rise outside of a few Ga State dorms. Nobody else would invest that much into downtown when nobody hasn't business wise in years

It's the catalyst downtown needs to spur additional growth. Downtown has done well but no major office building developments have happened in years. Hopefully it spurs more residential growth as well. The fact that transit is easily accessible and the Gulch is located near the new stadium, it would be a tremendous win for that part of the city.
