What is your favorite OTP Downtown of a Metro Atlanta Suburb? (Roswell: neighborhood, theater)

The downtowns of both Norcross and Duluth are my favorites. Norcross, in particular, has a very active and involved community of citizens right around the downtown area that has made very visible efforts to hold on to the historical elements of their downtown. Even among other metro area historic downtowns, what they've got there is truly unique.

Duluth has gone in a slightly different direction in keeping some of the old, but replacing some of it with new. The construction in the block bound by 120, W Lawrenceville, and Hill St is complete. The apartments being built on the old Proctor Square shopping center on Buford Hwy will hopefully be finished soon.

Marietta Square can be fun, as well. Though, I haven't spent as much time there as I used to.

Marietta- if it had transit connection it would be on Decatur's level

Thought not a suburb and is part of the CSA, I like Gainesville's downtown. Like Marietta's, the historic square is the focal point and a couple of key developments could really take it to the next level.

I've never been to Senoia, but have heard great things. The pics I've seen look wonderful.

I would say

Alpharetta ( considering its scope of growth and how it'll be connected to the Avalon )
Roswell ( open container drinking within the area too - plus two breweries! )
Marietta
Woodstock
Duluth

Lawrenceville would actually be pretty epic if they had more restaurants/shop instead of the few. It's slowly changing.

Buford's is nice too. So is Senoia.

I can't speak for much else only because I haven't been there yet

Yes, I live near downtown Alpharetta and Milton. Downtown Alpharetta just finished a apartment complex and they are building two more. It's building a lot.

I agree with that list and would add Lawrenceville and Senoia.

I saw where Tucker is getting a new brew pub. They've got a lot going on out there.

As far as restaurants, Lawrenceville square has:

Local Republic - my fav
Universal Joint - other fav
McCray's (with the nice rooftop area)
Corner Stop Cafe
Strange Taco Bar
Blue Rooster
Oyster Bay
La Cazuela
Dominick's
Cosmo's
Riley's
Boulder Creek
Little Barn (in further walking distance- famous awesome biscuits)

Plus a whole bunch of various shops.

IMO Lawrenceville downtown is in 3rd place of OTP, behind only Marietta and Roswell. And is growing faster than Roswell. More room to expand/better bones and street grid.

Vinings Jubilee is a shining example of how to do a shopping center right, and make it something attractive, and village-like. There is NO big ugly parking lot, or even a parking deck, but rather the parking is in single rows out front of each establishment, and it really works:

And Vinings is actually ITP, but not a part of skinny jeans/hipster-land. So fits in more on this list.
