Headed to Jamaica in a little over two weeks.

Everything is paid for, work trip, etc.

However I just realized we have barely over an hour to connect through customs.

This isn't like connecting on a regular domestic flight, I just realized.

I can't find any concrete information online, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience.

I went through customs in DC over 15 years ago and I don't remember how long that took.

TIA.

Probably not. You're referring to your return trip, correct? You shouldn't go through customers outgoing until you arrive in Jamaica. We've had some very long lines to contend with at Atlanta customs. Not always, but more often than I like.

Ah, no, I'm referring to the trip to get there.

Our return trip we have over two hours, and I'm not worried about missing a flight back to Knoxville.

It's getting there that I'm asking about.

Travel agent through DHs company booked it and he assures me that they wouldn't have booked a flight that we wouldn't be able to make, but you just never know these days. Flying is awful, not looking forward to it.

You don’t go through customs to get there. That’s a fine connection time.

66 minutes is plenty of time. You'll be fine.

Thanks, guys. Just one more thing to not stress about when flying. WTH happened to traveling being fun? (I know that's a rhetorical question.)

I was on a trip recently, from Atlanta to Phuket, with a 3 hour layover to South Korea.

The flight was supposed to leave at 10am, but was delayed to 8pm... So obviously the layover was missed. Delta rebooked everyone on the plane to the next available flight, booked a free hotel at the Hyatt Incheon, and we got a nice buffet breakfast.

They will take care of you if it's their fault you miss anything.

I've heard different stories too. It helps if you are elite status.

Not that much really.

Been on all sides of this fence.

The biggest indicator has to do with whose fault it is and how long it is to the next flight option.

One thing many forget or don't understand is weather, including trickle down problems from weather events elsewhere, are not the fault of the airlines and people are on their own.

Now say a plane has mechanical problems the airlines will take of you.

But there are some awkward timings. Every night the west coast has many people camping out in the airport, because people who have end of day issues are eligible for extremely early flights caused by time differences. I've gotten stuck out there a few times. Even though I spend the night in the airport, the flights were technically within 5 hours of the original.

It's a brutal 5 hours and many get cranky when the airlines aren't that accommodating.
