For example, Hartsfield-Jackson is still 34 million ahead of all the three DC area airports combined in total passenger traffic. Although with total O/D passenger traffic which doesn't include simple flight transfers, the order changes drastically.
And actually after clicking the link again those numbers have already changed just from 2016 to 2017 and are more up to date. Looks like LA's traffic just passed ATL overall.
cool...Atlanta is still really high in the list regardless of being only a single airport in the a metro.

Yes, it does change dramatically when you switch to O&D numbers. But we are still a very respective #6 in the U.S., with over 35.6 million passengers. Not surprisingly, New York is #1 by far when the 3 main Airports are combined.
These numbers do not include International arrivals....

And? What's your point? The list is from the DOT by Airports, not markets. That's specifically why I mentioned New York's 3 main Airports.

I think people forget that Istanbul is building a huge nice airport which will definitely pull traffic away from Dubai. I think ATL is safe especially when Delta’s new CS aircraft arrives. We should see new routes that Delta didn’t have the right equipment to serve starting . Furthermore, with all the drastic cut Southwest did at ATL from the AirTran merger. I expect Southwest will refocus on ATL expansion since O&D traffic at Atlanta is growing.

Hate is a pretty strong word, and ATL is extremely easy to navigate. And who exactly is unfriendly that you have dealt with?
It sounds like you are more familiar with a much smaller Airport, not the World's busiest in our own backyard. Considering where you live, you can always drive up to Chattanooga - but don't expect many options.
