Pet peeve: Why correct someone's word usage on a site like this when their meaning is completely clear? Ugh.

Second, so many streets in residential Buckhead have no sidewalks at all or very long stretches without sidewalks--Northside Dr., Habersham Rd., Arden Rd., Nancy Creek, Valley Rd., Rilman Rd. --these are just a few of them. . .

Because of tone and lying. "Atlanta doesn't even provide sidewalks." That's a lie. And Lying is MY pet peeve. Actually, it's not a pet peeve. It's a legitimate grievance that we should all be fighting against.

I can't say there is a lot of truth in your statement that "sidewalks are virtually everywhere in the city limits". That's just not true for those of us in the northwest section.

They are all over the place in Kirkwood and East Lake.

The entirety of those two neighborhoods could be sidewalk-less (they aren't, by a long shot), and my statement would still be correct. The overwhelming majority of streets inside the City of Atlanta have sidewalks. Those that don't are overwhelmingly residential streets where riding a scooter on the street would pose little to no challenge from cars. Or they are industrial areas that are built for moving freight.

But even if I were wrong about any or all of that, it's MORE wrong to say the city of Atlanta does not provide sidewalks. That's just patently false to the point of being a bald-faced lie.

Tone and lying? Have you been to Mozley Park? Home Park? Techwood parkway? Have you read GT’s research by professor Guensler studying the deplorable sidewalk conditions of the city? Are you aware of the multiple lawsuits against the city for being non compliant with the ADA? So yourself and your fellow city mates a favor and educate yourself instead of providing misleading information.

Atlanta has some of the worst sidewalks I’ve ever experienced in a city.

Why am I the one being questioned here?

Contrary to the person I was responding to, the city DOES have sidewalks that THEY installed on the vast majority of city streets. That is a fact.

Yes, some are in disrepair or are non-compliant with modern ADA standards.

Yes, some streets lack sidewalks.

But I wasn't responding to statements like those.

Unless you believe the city has wholesale not provided sidewalks, then you agree with me. Oh wait, that was you who said that. Shaking MY head.

BTW, I'm not going to look at all your links, but I used to live in Cabbagetown. Every street in that neighborhood has sidewalks except the one you pictured (and a couple short alleys like Pickett and Mollie). So it's very misleading of you to try to characterize entire neighborhoods with one photo as lacking sidewalks when the truth is every street you didn't link to DOES have sidewalks.

Also, that picture you posted of Midtown is a picture of a sidewalk. A really wide one, at that. Epic Fail.
