I'm not sure, but I will say this:

Do yourself a favor and rip all your CDs as lossless FLAC files. Someday you may regret only having compressed versions of all your favorite music. Another option is to just hang on to the CDs.

I will check out those places in Decatur. I would be surprised if I get a $1 a cd. I was thinking probably more like .25 to .50 cents. I'll try not to let them on as to how eager I am to unload them. As far as ripping to mp3, I really am not enough of an audiophile to distinguish enough difference to warrant taking up 600mb per disk. The disk space would be unmanageable. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-600 cd's and so far I have about 400 gig of mp3's.

The last time I was at Fantasyland I was kind of surprised at the huge inventory of cd's he had. I think the thought process for a lot of folks is they can buy a used cd for 5 bucks whereas the LP would be 12 bucks on iTunes.

At this point I will hang on to some of my favorites but a lot of these cd's have been collecting dust now for 5-8 years.

You can also search the internet and download FLAC files of the music on your CDs before you sell them. Remember, it's not illegal if you own the CD!

Maybe some rare ones will be worth a little, but it's pretty bleak overall. Don't get me wrong, there is still a market or CDs and some stores will buy them, but people have been digitizing and selling CDs for a long time now, and the number of people still buying is less, so you just can't get as much as you used to be able to.

Have you priced external storage lately? 1 terabyte storage devices can be had for less than $60, which would easily be paid for by the CDs you'd be selling. Do what you want, but disk space should not be a limiting factor.

Your math seems to be off.

600mb x 600 cds is 360,000 mbs which is only 360 gigs.

How are you compressing and still have 400gbs? Are you counting things you didn’t rip?

And very similarly, Second & Charles stores... two in the Atlanta area, someplace like Buford, on out I-85 North, and out I-75 North, around the Marietta and Kennesaw area...

CDs, Books, DVDs, comics, they buy them all for resale...
