Is it good that Ga is Republican and Atlanta is Democrat because I was thinking about the crazy laws in places that extremely left like Cali, Chicago, NYC, etc and are taxed out to the max. Wouldnt want our city to be taxed like crazy like cities in those states.

We also don't want to be a red state and city. Do you think it's better for Atlanta to be blue and the state red or would it be better for the city and the state to be either all blue or all red?

I'd rather it be purple like Virginia.

Let's see, state leaders attacked Delta, one of the largest employers, because of NRA discounts. NO I do not think it's a good balance because state leadership has too much control over local issues.

Exactly. Plus they're not fiscal conservatives. They're social conservatives, more concerned with bathroom bills than balanced budgets.

The ideal would probably be for neither the city nor state to be so predictably blue or red. If that were the case, there'd be more respect and cooperation between the city and state (but let's be real, cooperation on the states part towards the needs and desires of the city is what is lacking, as the city has no power whatsoever over the rest of the state), and we wouldn't be seeing all these ridiculous political ads that insult everyone's intelligence.

I want left-of-center moderate Democrats governing everything. That way, we can be fiscally sound and socially progressive, and be free from the racist, gun worshiping, pseudo "Christian" theocracy that many Georgia Republicans seem hellbent on imposing upon us.

It does not really matter whether a state like Georgia or a city like Atlanta is 'red' (controlled by Republicans) or 'blue' (controlled by Democrats).

What matters more than party control is that a state like Georgia and a city like Atlanta be led by competent leaders, particularly in the Governor's Mansion at the state level and in the Mayor's office at the city level.

We can fight all day and all night over which political party and/or political ideology might be the best option, but at the end of the day all that really matters is that our political leaders be competent, inclusive and forward-looking, not incompetent, exclusionary and backwards-looking.

Which is ironic as they (republicans) are always saying how local should be kept local and the state/feds should keep their noses out of their affairs..."small government."
