Well, thank you all for your input. Now that I am here, I can explore and see what the areas here are really like... Who knows, maybe I will move in a couple of years (thanks to some of your advice), but for right now, I am just happy to be breathing clean air in GA... Thanks, again!

Congratulations! We must be close to neighbors.

Are you south of I-20 by any chance? I just discovered Turner Hill Road and all the beautiful homes down there.

Oh! Then we are almost neighbors! Welcome!

We bought our house in July and it was so beautiful up here, and then we moved from Florida in November and it's been pretty dreary and depressing looking. Can't wait to plant flowers and mow the lawn in spring.

If I remember correctly, you have to go to the airport quite a bit. My husband does also and if you go I20 to 285 south--it takes about 1/2 an hour in nonrush hour. Not too bad.

Default Neighbors!...Wow!

It has been very cold, which is something that we trying to adjust to. I am in CA on business right now, and it is raining and dreary... go figure! I can't wait to go back home (GA) and can't wait to plant in the spring as well. I did make it to the airport okay... it took me ~30 minutes, so that wasn't bad. Thanks for the posts... and I will try Chicken and Waffles at Stonecrest! (As soon as I return! - Thanks!)

CaliPeach,

I am not sure where you are thinking about moving your kids to school mid year. Transfers, while not unheard of in DeKalb, are difficult this time of year. If you want a choice for next year -- look out for the magnet booklet which should come out sometime in late March.

I am definitely looking to move the kids to new schools for next year, especially my 10th grader! Lithonia HS leaves MUCH TO BE DESIRED! As for the little ones... I am not quite sure yet. As for traffic, I am okay as I work from home and only need to hit the highway when I am headed to and from airport. Otherwise, I utilize it during off-commute hours... I am looking forward to venturing downtown with the kids to show them more of Atlanta as the weather gets better. Any ideas? Sites? Museums? Plays?
