I HAVE NO CLUE, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE SPLIT LEVELS and I'm from Atlanta!!!
It makes me sick seeing so many...
I don't like anything about this design in a home.

Split-level or Split-foyer?

Honestly, not familiar with the term "Split-foyer"
But I imagine I wouldn't like it. I don't like HAVING to go up or down stairs after entering the front door just to get to the living room, family room or kitchen. Especially not the kitchen. I only want to walk up stairs to get to the personal spaces (bedrooms).

I have family in a split level. I have to walk up steps to get to the front door, then once inside, I have to walk up another set of steps to get to the living room and kitchen. Super annoying and not attractive looking. I personally don't like this design at all. And it makes moving furniture & large appliances in VERY difficult for no good reason. It's not like Atlanta is a coastal city that has to build houses up a level because of the storm swell threat. And even if so, in a lot of those split level homes, there's a living space and bedroom downstairs. So you walk UP stairs to get to the door, then back DOWN stairs to get to a bedroom... Those steps just wasted space in the layout of the home. Could've achieved getting to the same place by just walking straight...

Split-foyer is that photo you see on the first page. The first post/photo.

Split-levels are much better. A split-level is in the photo posted by bryant--also on the first page.

OH, okay. I think I get the difference.
Yes, I agree that split-level is much better. What I must be describing is split-foyer which I hate.
I still don't care for either, but I could deal with split-level much more than a split-foyer

I really liked my uncle's house that appears to be a 1-story from the road, but has a walk-out basement. I suppose the land has to support (agree with) the type of home you want to build?

Oh my goodness they're still at it! They've just gotten bigger!
