Some great photos. As one poster noted, Atlanta is known for its greenery. But I really like the winter city panorama shots. In the summer it can be humid and smoggy, which limits long-distance visibility. In the winter, you can get much crisper, clearer shots.

Oakhurst video
Here's a video link instead of photos. This is my somewhat lazy way of showing off my part of the ATL. Hope you enjoy!

Really though, neat video. Guess we should start adding some video links, too. I've only got a couple of quickies on youtube but I haven't figured out how to improve the quality over the crap-tube quality that is the default on it yet.

There has since been a newer skyscraper added to this view and once I take an updated shot I'll update it.

Cool.

Last is the "ugly" side to Atlanta - the HUGE problem with vagrants in parts of downtown. Near the "Five Points" area is the worst. Avoiding the political debate as to the difference between a homeless person who needs help vs. a "bum", let's just say the city has done it's best to steer tourists away from this area and into the Aquarium/Centennial Park areas these days so they don't see this. Here below, you see a multi-million dollar fountain that was built for the Olympics.

Yes, Centennial Park is very nice.
I ate at a Moe's Southwest Grill very close to GSU and only 1 1/2 blocks from Five Points. Moe's was good, but man, how sad is it to see all of those vagrants? Saw one dude EATING OUT OF A TRASH CAN outside next to the window where my buddy and I were eating. The vagrant situation there is worse than Chicago, NYC, Cincinnati, or any major city I've been to.
Until Atlanta can get this problem under control, I just can't see living Downtown.

And where do I find these Ghetto Burgers?

Yes, Atlanta does traffic very well, which is why I'd want to live close to where I work.

Inman Park might have been old money about 110 years ago, but not lately. When Druid Hills began to develop in the early 1900's, the money went there; Inman Park went into a long period of decline. Then in the 70's, when many cities were beginning to appreciate the old neighborhoods again, it began its climb back to where it is today.

That last photo of the Westin Peachtree Plaza. This was taken AFTER they fixed the windows after the tornado?
They couldn't even match up the window shading? Ewww that's ugly (not your pic - the building, now).
