Try reading more carefully next time. I wrote what I did precisely because of ANCS’ demographics.
Ahh...thanks for pointing out my reading and comprehension skills on the forum, admirable of you! Excuse me for missing that specific comment, many apologies.

It’s rather depressing that so many teachers don’t know the damn law.

I stood for it and my kids have as well but it’s a waste of time. All we do is coerce people into mindlessly reciting the pledge thousands of times.
Yep, I've had numerous coaches and teachers yell at students about standing and saying the pledge .

They don't have too nor do I ever force my classes too. Long as you aren't moving during the pledge, I don't care.

No worries. I should have been less snarky. Sorry about that.

I’d just take the, “ with liberty and justice for ALL” out. We all know that’s not true.

I believe they are values that we aspire to as a nation, and a standard that we evaluate ourselves by. It is probably the most important part of the pledge.

If the Wolf Pack Chant made you uncomfortable (you know, an actual pride building chant to make students feel like they are a part of a school community), then I'm sure you wouldn't have to participate. There are MUCH more important things going on in this country right now that need to be taken care of - it is infuriating that such minor news at a local public charter school (a very highly regarded school, for that matter) is the type of thing that people pay attention to and make a big fuss about. It just represents the short attention span of the American public, and is a distraction from the real important news. Really over the way politics has transformed lately.
You're so intellectual you don't recognize sarcasm.

That is what I was thinking and trying to find a way to articulate, jeoff, which you did beautifully. It is almost like a statement of what we find to be the "BEST VERSION" of ourselves as a nation. Something to strive for an ultimate goal for our great nation. Perhaps many of us in education are more optimistic than Americans as a whole; we "see" the future EVERYDAY! ;0)

Along the same vein, I heard DL Hughely on Bill Maher the other day make the comment that electing Barack Obama was who America thinks it is, but Donald Trump is who we are. Sad.
