Default Are there any plans of building up downtown?

I see there are many buildings going up in Midtown and plans for many more, but I have yet to see any plans of mass construction in the downtown area. Does anyone here know if there will be more skyscrapers going up anytime soon? It would be nice to have a real downtown with the caliber of San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles etc....

The most activity your going to see downtown is around Centennial Olympic Park, where there is actually a lot going on. Allen Plaza is a major development also happening near there. Other than that, its doing to be awhile because the rest of downtown (i.e. Five Points, the "Government District") is still pretty blighted. I predict development will radiate outward from CO Park.

Rumors are for more mixed-use developments around Centennial Park as mmann said. Then there is the "Streets of Buckhead" high-end retail shopping area going up in Buckhead that will have a couple of midrise condo/hotel projects, but for the most part, most of the new mid to higher rise office space is going to be in the Midtown area. Atlanta has a surplus of office space right now, so I doubt any new high rise stuff is going to be put up for a while unless some huge company builds one for themselves. You can of course always go to those skyscraper page forums at that site as people there are always on top of stuff that's in the planning and building stages.
