Default New Year's Eve?

I'm planning to visit a friend who just moved to Atlanta for New Year's Eve and we are looking for something to do. We really aren't into the club/bar scene and that's mostly all I've found looking online. Can anyone give us some ideas for an inexpensive way to spend NYE? Thanks!

How about the big peach drop? Sorry don't know much about New Year's parties, I haven't been to one in about 15 years!

We just moved here and the Peach drop is THE thing from what I hear. Unfortunately, my husband is one of the people in charge of the security for it so it will be a working holiday for him.

Where is it and if we don't feel like dealing with traffic to get there, will it be televised on TV? The is my first year here and I have a 3 year old so going out to party is out of the question if we don't have a babysitter.

I believe it is televised. It is in the area of Underground Mall in Atlanta.

We have a 3 year old too so hoping one of the grandmas will stick around to babysit.

Default Thanks...

Thanks for the replies but we went to the Peach Drop last year & it was horrible! There were so many people and it wasn't worth the trouble. Cops were all over the place and there was a huge fight that broke out in front of us at one point. Later the cops were chasing another guy who had a gun and about 10 cops jumped on top of him to take him down. It was a very sketchy crowd of people down there.

If you dont want to go downtown for the Peachdrop and you dont want to go to Buckhead to party then I would suggest you all just invite some people over and watch it on TV. It's still fun to watch with friends and you can controll your environment, which can be important as New Year's a holiday where people love to go wild and crazy!

Just because its boring to you dont mean it sucks: MARTA runs 24 hours that weekend thousands of people come down and buckhead to watch the peach drop. It can be fun depending on the crowd your with and if you can deal with all types of people> I ve been to NYC and the crowd is alot worse but its fun there and really cold

I understand that East Andrews, in Buckhead, has a memorable New YEars Eve Party.
