Agreed.

I wonder the race of the many who do get caught with a gun and what happens to them. I know how I get treated at airports but they can be white, have a gun, and get to board their flight still.

Which makes absolutely NO SENSE!

Just a counterpoint. If a man doesn't even realize he has a gun on him, how dangerous can he be?

I am sure that many observers in other parts of the country and the world will point to this statistic and say that it is evidence of a culture in metro Atlanta, in Georgia and in the Southeastern U.S. in which gun ownership is high.

I do not know whether or not the culture of gun ownership in metro Atlanta, Georgia and the Southeast had anything to do with this statistic directly. But I do think that people in other parts of the country and the world will look at this statistic and probably immediately infer that it has something to do with the gun-friendly culture of the state and the Southeast.

"Responsible Gun Owner"

If you forget that you are carrying a deadly weapon on you when walking around in public, you have no business carrying said weapon.

Owning a gun is a RIGHT, not a privilege.

"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
- - - Second amendment, USCON
Of course, consenting subjects who surrendered their endowment don't have rights. Is that what you're referring to?

if it's something you carry with you on a daily basis i can see how someone would have it in their purse or something. the fact that we're the busiest airport in the world, we probably have the record number of just about everything. a meaningful statistic would be number of guns confiscated per passenger.

considering it's 300 guns out of 100 million passengers this whole thing seems like a non-issue anyway.

There are a lot of things that we 'have a right to' but aren't really given. Equal treatment under the law is a right but still we have certain people not having this right.

Also these people who have said rights to bear arms, I'd like to see how some people get treated versus others who unknowingly are carrying arms at checkpoint. I know that with me I'd probably be held in detention and my family not even know what's going on...
