Default Heating Oil Prices - Heron Bay - Locust Grove

My husband and I are purchasing a 5 bedroom 4 bath home in Heron Bay in Locust Grove. What is the average oil / gas heating price for a house that size. The square foot is 3,770.

Thanks

I don't think any house in GA uses heating oil (even the old ones), but I could be wrong. Natural gas is unregulated now in GA, so you can check the websites for the local providers like GNG, Scanna, Gas South, etc., to see what plans and rates they are now offering. I locked in at GNG for $0.99/therm in Sept on a 12 month.

My house is 2 years old, 5BR/3.5BA 3800 sq ft, with gas cooktop, gas water heater, and 2 gas furnaces (upstairs and downstairs). We added fiberglass fill to our attic to bring it up to R48, and we keep the thermostat at 68 while we're home and 65 at night and when we're gone during the day. My largest gas bill this winter was $177. YMMV.

Thank you so much for your response - I truly meant to say "gas" heating - what has been your average electric bill? We are moving from Florida and our house is completely electric and our highest bill is around $170. I am just trying to get a feel for what my utilities would be in Ga.

Funny you mention it...I just paid my electric for last month and it was for 800KWH usage and it totaled $81 and change. Roughly $0.10/KWH including all charges and taxes. I'm sure that the total $$$ will go up once A/C season starts, but I'm not sure if the charge/KWH goes up as well. I'm on Cobb EMC.

Whew - ok then I should be alright - I just spoke with my cousin in New Jersey yesterday and she mentioned that her monthly heating bill is over $1,300 per MONTH!!! Now, I realize it's not comparing apples to apples as she uses oil and a much older home - a 4 story brownstone - I just couldn't wrap my head around the thought. Thank you so much again!

Which builder did you buy from? There are several builders in Heron Bay.

Ryland Homes
John Wieland Homes
Minerva Properties
Windsong Properties
Pulte Homes
Brayson Homes
D. R. Horton
Bob Adams Homes

Buying new construction requires a keen awareness of the contractual details; otherwise, you might pay too much.

We were able to get our hands on a 3 1/2 year old resale Ryland Home 5/4 $299,000 - The builder is coming out with the same model at $349,900. We just got it inspected yesterday and passed with flying colors - just waiting now to close.

Good job.

$349,900 is their asking price only.

Really, I did not realize that you could negotiate a builder price - I mean I knew some would be flexible with credits i.e. appliances, upgrades etc but not on the asking price. tell me more...

Hi Tania my husband and I along with my family are also moving to heron Bay in Georgia we just got back from visiting there this weekend we also live in Florida. Unfortunately we still have not sold our home here therefore we can not start building our home yet upthere which is a DR Horton home. Maybe we can meet once we relocate good luck to you and your family upthere.
