Atlanta hate, which he has, may be more accurate.

But why?

(I have my thoughts)

I agree. Things have changed in the ten years since that article was written, but they do have a valid point about our arterial street network. We could definitely stand improvement in that department.

I can't get this to format cleanly, but these are the components of change for the metro over the last several years.
Interesting—another data set contradicting OP, and showing that things are basically the same as they’ve been, besides a couple bubblicious years 2006-2008 and the subsequent crash.

What? You don't think this is a solid principal arterial road network (according to GDOT)??

I'm not even sure I could consider some of these major arterials as they are 4-lane undivided.

Our minor arterial network is okay, but very disconnected. And a lot of it is two-lane roads, which should hardly qualify as arterial.

All 3 points:
Inadequate freeway network, especially on cross-town routes
Inadequate arterial network
Lack of investment in transit

Yep...all three. Lots of talk. Lots of studies. Lots of meetings. Lots of input. Lots of town halls. Very little progress.
