If you’re wanting to attempt East Cobb to Midtown, you will definitely have to leave before 7AM (closer to 6 would be better. In the afternoon, you will need to be in your car pulling out of your parking spot at 4:30.

Sometimes I get caught up in something, and I won’t actually get down to my car until 4:50. Even by the then, traffic has already gotten significantly worse.

Honestly, even Midtown to Decatur. in under 30 minutes can be tough, depending on timing and where exactly the trip starts and stops within those areas. Mornings are going to be easier, but Ponce is a slog in the evening. It's a totally different beast at 4:30 vs. 5:15.

Your budget makes this quite possible, or something right close to 30 min. Lot of options, as others have mentioned.

In this metro in order to have a consistently under 30 min commute anywhere circa rush hours, you generally need to live really close to work. Like, maybe in the 5 miles or closer ballpark (except for reverse commutes), but it all depends.

I'm 10 miles from work and I don't have to commute at the heart of rush hour and it still takes around 25-30 minutes. Would easily take an hour in the thick of it.

This is very helpful. Google maps directions don’t tell the whole story. Thanks.

I guess it depends on where the job in midtown is, MARTA can be an option, but it would have to be ealry 7am or later 10am type shift for 30 minute commute.

Click the drop down on google maps to a custom time and choose your commute times to the area in question. That tells a better story. You can also check this in the Waze app on your phone.
