I will be in Atl for a week and was thinking of driving to Savanah but its 5 hours !! I never been to the coastal south so it seemed cool but 5 hours ?!? . Is there anything comparable that is closer or is Savannah for 2 days worth it ??

It's worth it, especially if you have someone going with you. There's nothing closer that's coastal, the mountains are 2-4 hours depending on your destination. Chattanooga is a good city, Gatlinburg is a good one too, of course there's the numerous North Georgia towns, Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Dahlonega, Clayton, Hiawassee.

Macon is your best bet, though most of the towns along I-16 probably have stuff, but no idea what.

Where are you driving from? Right from Atlanta? If so, it is not a 5 hour drive. If you're in the downtown area or south, and leave outside of rush-hour, it's about 3.5 hours to Savannah. So it's really not that bad. It'll obviously be longer from the northern suburbs, and can get very long if you leave during rush hour, so plan accordingly. Destin and the Florida Panhandle areas are 5 hours.

Savannah is actually 4 hours from Atlanta. Savannah is worth checking out. Florida's Panhandle is just as close. Panama City fl, Destin Fl, and Forth Walton beach are all about a 4 hour drive away.

Savannah is little over 3 hours away. Unless you live in like dalton it might be 5.
