Glad to see this happen. I remember looking at a mobile home down there years ago.

Indeed. This has been some time coming and the new precinct is being built about 3/4 of a mile from the home I grew up in (it's been a while since I lived down there though). I think the location also used to be occupied by (or at least next to) the FirePlace Lounge - an attempt at creating a "fine drinking establishment". Ha ha. Having had a few drinks there I'm not so sure they achieved that goal but they did at least try. I also think there is/was some strategy in picking the location which is basically right across the street from the old Alamo Plaza where, in 1993, Stewart Avenue experience its nadir with the double murder. And this will allow me to (in)elegantly seque into a plug for my blog "The Stewart Avenue Kid". https://stewartavekid.wordpress.com/ recent entries discuss thie new precinct, the old "chain gang" rock quarry on Sulvan Rd, drinking too much, and Sylvan Hills musicians. Lastly, I do think the new precinct will help with redevelopment efforts. This corridor is minutes from downtown and from the airport.
