I disagree. 720 people showing up for a meeting about roads is pretty damn substantial.

So Georgians get whatever they're served, and rightly so.

People don't get involved here, and that's part of the reason for the rampant corruption and ****-poor pavement conditions on city streets.

I've never figured out the reason. Is everyone living such exciting lives here in Atlanta that they aren't aware of the problems?

Unfortunately that is typical for local/state politics. Only a few people put in a lot of effort to care.

720 people to a GDOT open house session is a ton of people.

Also the 285 express lanes won't have a direct impact on everyone in the metro. I didn't attend this meeting because I don't drive or live in the impacted area.

FWIW many people simply put can't, especially if the meeting is happening during work hours. After work hours they're typically just trying to catch up with daily life duties.

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

There are several in Dekalb County I wanted to attend, but they would be at 5 or 5:30 or 6 in areas that are hard to get to with traffic at those times.

Over 3 days with with 2 open periods each day?

Before you all can say it was well attended, please do some research regarding other state's DOTs.

I know that NCDOT has virtual reality set ups where you can experience projects with the headgear stuff.

They must be popular to go to that level of engagement with the public.

Only GDOT would have open houses on Thursday at afternoon rush hours.

Unless they thought it would underscore the need for the project by arranging citizens to navigate there at the worst time.
