My wife is being offered a job in Alpharetta near North Point Mall and I may have a position in Atlanta near SunTrust Park. We currently live in rural Connecticut and each of us has a 35-45 minute commute to work. With no kids, we're open to city or country living. We enjoy the arts and local musicians.

Where should we be looking?

Downtown Marietta or Downtown Roswell. Or perhaps the Sandy Springs /Perimeter area.

Must run to a meeting but if you have follow-up questions I would be glad to answer them later tonight!

East Cobb, Roswell and Sandy Springs would all be great options.

I just discovered the MARTA - and the Peachtree Center station would work perfectly for me. So the areas along the Red and Gold Lines closer to Alpharetta look like they would be good options. Any areas you would NOT recommend?

MARTA doesn’t go to Suntrust Park because it is in Cobb County not the city of Atlanta.

I would not recommend the Roswell road portion of Sandy springs (south of hooch, north of Abernathy). Just blighted, low income apartments and abandoned shopping centers, although it's slowly changing. Also while not bad, East Rowell (East of 400) is not as nice as west....

SunTrust Park isn't anywhere near Peachtree Center, and, as lethalhipster9 said, MARTA doesn't go to SunTrust Park, which is in Cobb County. SunTrust Park is about 20 miles from Alpharetta, so maybe something halfway between the two? East Cobb? Or Roswell? If you do look at Roswell Road in Fulton County, I'd look north of Sandy Springs, nearer the river, rather than closer to I-285.

Do you mean you'll be working near Suntrust Plaza office tower in downtown Atlanta or near Suntrust Park, the baseball stadium near Cumberland Mall in the suburbs? If you're working downtown, then, yes the Red and Gold lines would be perfect transit alternatives to driving.
