Have any of y'all been following this controversy?

Quote:
An uproar that developed last weekend over the white faces in an online brochure advertising a large luxury development slated for one of the city’s oldest black neighborhoods started with a Saturday morning Facebook post.

“Wow,” wrote James Jay Bailey, president and CEO of the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. “This is so disturbing.”

As the 34-page brochure spread through social media, the refrain of criticism provided a brief glimpse into the powder keg of anger and fear that the rapid gentrification of Atlanta has created.

Bailey and others were particularly disturbed about one photograph that showed only white people lounging and laughing in a conference room. Superimposed over the picture were the words, “A Community Created For The New Atlanta.” The words “New Atlanta” in bold.

This controversy is a bunch of hubbub about nothing. Yeah, I said it.

Already knew it was going to be perceived as gentrification prior to the approval of the rezoning to MRC-3 with conditions. It originally supposed to be one of the sites thrown out for the failed Amazon HQ2 search in Atlanta. Instead, it winds up being three of blank boxes tied to a development of regional impact (DRI) with numerous riparian variances for encroachments into the Proctor Creek watershed. This is what happens when you want poorly designed unnecessary development placed next to a heavy rail transit spur and station.

I am going to just sit back and laugh at this situation because there is no real solution to this "problem" it is going to be what it is going to be. Atlanta wants to be "everything to everyone" but this is one of the consequences that come with this desperation. *shrugs*

HotLanta, MyLanta, NewLanta.

TBH demographics and race aside, sometimes it does feel like they are trying to price the little man out of living within the vicinity of affluent areas.

To be upset at an ad like this, one needs to make a series of emotionally charged assumptions that would all need to be true about the party that created it. Which is a big leap to make when one has most likely never met creator of the ad. Maybe I'm naive, but my brain could never look at an apartment ad and jump to so many conclusions. For one, "new" Atlanta could refer to so many things. I agree this the above poster, this is almost borderline fake news......

Who's upset? All I see is people weighing in on what appears to be a comical misstep.
